And thus, one more piece of the NFL's historical (and, in some ways, hypocritical) aversion to anything resembling gambling has been chipped away. The Chargers are about to team up with the California Lottery, lending their name and identity to a line of Scratchers tickets.

According to the news release, non-winning Chargers Scratchers tickets can be entered on the lottery website in a contest for team-related prizes, including use of suites at home games, VIP ticket packages and autographed helmets and jerseys from current players.

The official announcement will be made Tuesday afternoon at Chargers Park.
